Saverio Barillari (known as Rino) was born on February 8, 1945 in Limbadi, Calabria. At the age of 14, he left his country and his family to seek his fortune in Rome. With the first earnings he buys a used camera: a Comet Bencini. He began the profession of "paparazzo" by selling the photos of the protagonists of the Dolce Vita to news agencies such as Ansa, Associated Press and UPI. Starting in 1968, he began to follow parallel demonstrations of protest, crime news, terrorism and mafia attacks; first for the newspaper Il Tempo and then for Il Messaggero. He is an honorary lecturer in photography at the Xi'an International University.
