Glen Luchford isn’t a new photographer on the block. Since the late 1990s, the British photographer has shot campaigns for Prada and countless editorials including The Face, British Vogue, Another Magazine and French Vogue. Luchford, who started documenting skateboarders in England and was once fired from Harper’s Bazaar for, is a edgier than his cinematic fashion images suggest. For Damaged Negatives, the photos were exhumed from his flooded storage unit. The decaying and deteriorating aspects (oxidation, cigarette holes, etc) of his photos, which include Kate Moss, give them a poetic strangeness that is different from traditional fashion photography. "Fashion is totally industrialized, and I'm trying to entertain myself as part of the mechanism. Clearly, we're just here to sell clothes. But sometimes we find the images transcend the medium, which can be very nice. I suppose, in some peculiar, twist-of-fate way, these images do that," says Luchford.
